Part 48 Subpart B New Miner Training

$475.00

Part 48 Subpart B (Surface) New Miner Training covers all the training topics miners need to get started working surface-level metal and non-metal mines. Miners may need additional site-specific training at the mine site. This training also includes the Hazardous Communication Standard (HAZCOM) and is designed with interactive teaching methods that are shown to increase information retention and engagement.

This training is required by MSHA to be completed annually by all miners working on active surface-level metal or non-metal mine sites.

24 hours of online training is provided in a digital classroom with an experienced MSHA Blue Card certified instructor.

Reviews
“This was a very good class. I really enjoyed the instructor’s sense of humor. I also appreciated the balance of instructor dialogue, group discussion, and videos.”
“Best msha instructors I’ve ever had. Others are much more monotoned and can’t keep anyones attention. They do a great job of keeping peoples mind in the class and not drifting elsewhere.”
“Better than any online class I have had in the past!”
“This training was better than any live MSHA refresher class I have been too.”

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I get a 5000-32?
Upon completion of the class you will receive a printable PDF copy of the 5000-23 to the email you registered with. You should save the PDF copy for your records. PDF copies are accepted by MSHA as a valid documentation form for training records.
Does MSHA training expire?
In short, yes. To remain compliant, you must take an Annual Refresher training course every year. Annual training lasts until one year from the end of the month you received the training. So, if you received training on June 10, 2023, your MSHA training would expire on June 30, 2024. However, it is best to not delay your annual training to the last minute, since working after your training has expired can result in severe fines, penalties, and even the shutdown of the mine site.
Does this training permit me to work on surface and underground mine sites?
No, this Part 48 training only covers surface-level metal and non-metal mine sites. If you plan on working on underground operations, you will also need Part 48 Subpart A training to remain in compliance.
What course do I need to take if I’m re-entering the mining industry?
That depends on how long you’ve been gone. MSHA has a grace period for returning miners, so if it has been less than two years since your last MSHA training course, you can take an 8-hour Annual Refresher course to return to work. If it has been longer than two years since your last MSHA training, you will need to retake a New Miner training course to be fully compliant.
