Part 48 Subpart A New Miner Training

$599.00

Part 48 Subpart A New Miner Training covers all the training topics miners need to get started working at underground mine sites. Miners may need additional site-specific training at the mine site. This training also includes the Hazardous Communication Standard (HAZCOM) and is designed with interactive teaching methods that are shown to increase information retention and engagement.

This training is required by MSHA to be completed annually by all miners working on active underground mine sites.

32 hours of online training is provided in a digital classroom with an experienced MSHA Blue Card certified instructor. 8 hours of training will need to be conducted by a mine operator for on-site hazard training.

This course includes three days of consecutive training, and an additional day that can be scheduled separately. Schedule those first three days now and you will receive an email shortly to schedule the additional day.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I get a 5000-32?
Upon completion of the class you will receive a printable PDF copy of the 5000-23 to the email you registered with. You should save the PDF copy for your records. PDF copies are accepted by MSHA as a valid documentation form for training records.
Does MSHA training expire?
In short, yes. To remain compliant, you must take an Annual Refresher training course every year. Annual training lasts until one year from the end of the month you received the training. So, if you received training on June 10, 2023, your MSHA training would expire on June 30, 2024. However, it is best to not delay your annual training to the last minute, since working after your training has expired can result in severe fines, penalties, and even the shutdown of the mine site.
Does this training permit me to work on surface and underground mine sites?
No, this Part 48 Subpart A training only covers underground mine sites. If you plan on working on surface-level operations, you will also need Part 46 training or Part 48 Subpart B training depending on the operation to remain in compliance. This online course only covers Part 48 Subpart A training.
What course do I need to take if I’m re-entering the mining industry?
Miners who have taken a 40-hour MSHA Part 48 subpart A training course and worked for 12 months in an underground mine are considered “experienced miners”. If you meet these requirements and have been out of the industry for more than 5 years, you only need to take the 8-hour MSHA Part 48 Subpart A Annual Refresher training course to return to work in an underground mine. If you don’t have 12 months of experience in an underground mine, you’ll need to retake the 40-hour MSHA Part 48 subpart A training course before you return to work in an underground mine.
