Do you have questions surrounding the newest changes to MSHA regulations?

Do you know the outcomes of the final rulings below?

Make sure your teams are in compliance with new MSHA laws that came into effect in 2024.

Respirable Crystalline Silica:

  • On April 18, 2024, MSHA issued its final rule, Lowering Miners’ Exposure to Respirable Crystalline Silica and Improving Respiratory Protection, to reduce miner exposures to respirable crystalline silica and improve respiratory protection for all airborne hazards.

Surface Mobile Equipment :

  • MSHA’s final rule requires mine operators to have written safety programs for surface mobile equipment (excluding belt conveyors) at surface mines and surface areas of underground mines. The safety programs must include input from miners and their representatives and identify hazards and risks.
  • In recent years, powered haulage equipment and machinery have been leading causes of serious and fatal mine accidents, and this final rule is a key part of MSHA’s overall effort to improve safety in equipment use. This year the mining industry has experienced 40 mining fatalities, including 16 classified as machinery and 10 classified as powered haulage fatalities.

Please keep your crews safe by keeping remaining compliant with MSHA rule.

Stop by our booth at Minexpo 2024 to ask any questions about the new rules, your compliance, or other safety topics with no commitment.
